Location: 511 E. 5th St.
Time: 12pm
People: RB, CK and myself
List:
-The former Goat Town (one of my favorite brunch spots) space was revamped into GG's.
-Both Goat Town and GG's are by restaurateur Nicholas Morgenstern of Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream. So of course GG's carries Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream on their dessert menu.
-The backyard garden provides fresh produce.
-The menu is NYC inspired New American, modern fare: pizza made in a classic New York style deck oven, burger, oven baked pasta, and don't forget the ice cream sandwich.
-"Going to be Healthy" ($11, kale, poached eggs, goat cheese, romesco) is flavorful and fresh. I am obsessed with their romesco sauce.
-They don't offer pizza by slices for dining in. "1986" ($15 for round pie with spicy sopressata, fennel agrodolce, pickled peppers, arugula), recommended by our server, is fantastic and a must for the Mets fans. It is, however, a bit too spicy for kids especially from the spicy sopressata and pickled peppers.
-The housemade ricotta on the side is sweet and creamy.
-Highly recommend GG's for a relaxing dining experience with amazing service. Your friends and family from out of the town would enjoy the modernized version of traditional New York food.
