Location: 31 W 32nd St.
Time: 4pm
People: RB, CK and myself
Feelings: Replacing the popular bakery, Koryodang on 32nd Street is a new Korean bakery chain, Tous Les Jours. This French-Asian bakery giant has stores worldwide, offering various baked goods, cakes, shaved ice ($11-$13) and beverages.
The interior has more rustic appeal than Koryodang or Paris Bakery nearby. The seating area is perfect for quick bread-y bites or late night hangouts. The selections of bread and cakes are almost overwhelming, but browse carefully, and you'll find what you are looking for.
Milk soft bread ($2.50) is a must. So incredibly soft and chewy, filled with creamy sweet cream, this milk bread tops other Asian bakeries' various attempts. Similar to the milk bread, Choux Cream Bread is a winner. It's pate a choux (cream puff) in a bread form-- How can you possibly go wrong with that!?
RB's ham and swiss croissant was delicious. As soon as he finished his last bite, he wanted to go back for the sweet and savory harmonious treat.
The beverage selection does not look too exciting, but the sweets and croissants at Tous Les Jours do not disappoint. It's also a major plus that they are not as costly as Japanese or French bakeries in the city. Now I don't regret about not going to Koryodang so often-- Tous Les Jours is here to stay.
