Chez Moi 02-02-2013

Location: 135 Atlantic Ave. BK
Time: 3:30pm
People: RB, CK and myself

Feelings: One morning, RB and I stealthily observed a new restaurant being assembled across the street from our apartment on Atlantic Avenue. As soon as we saw them etch the name "Chez Moi" on the door we assumed that a French bistro was taking shape in the former location of  La Mancha restaurant. We could not wait for the possibilities of moules-frites and crepes.

Just a few doors down from popular Colonie, Chez Moi exudes a welcoming vibe with modern flair. Brunch items are mostly around or under $10, promising that this eatery is far more affordable than many lofty brunch spots in the area. Despite the price, the service and food are nothing but high end (the chef is from Daniel) while maintaining the casual, intimate sensibility.

Mushroom, cheese and spinach crepes ($10) is a heavenly one. Every bite is smooth and silky and perfectly seasoned. It makes me wonder how sinfully decadent their nutella crepes ($8) may be.

Always a finicky eater, CK, puts a stamp of approval on their buttermilk pancakes with fresh blueberries ($10). His eyes lights up as he takes the first bite. "Wow. Yummy."

RB thoroughly enjoys his Croque Madam ($11). The sandwich is prepared on a nice hearty multigrain, and the egg is pleasantly runny and served with a side of well seasoned, crispy potatoes.

If I did not have a food blog, I probably would dine here every weekend...to the point I would consider this place a part of my dining room. Chez Moi is that kind of a place, but alas, I cannot eat the same crepe twice. Such is the life I live as a food blogger.
