Brunch at The Farm on Adderley 10-31-2009

Location: 1108 Cortelyou Rd. Flatbush, BK
Time: 12:15pm
People: JNu, CEbert, RB and myself

Feelings: JNu finally took us out to the Farm on Adderley in the next up and coming neighborhood in Brooklyn, Ditmas Park. The Farm uses organic, fresh, local and seasonable ingredients, and you get superb quality new American brunch at reasonable prices. The service is low key and friendly but attentive. They were also playing 90's indie rock, so this place was built for my Saturday brunches. Needless to say, it is very crowded here. You see young hipster crowds, parents with strollers, more older professional crowds all mixed together waiting for tables or enjoying their brunch. The outside garden seating area would be perfect for nice summer days.

I ordered Farmer's Breakfast without cheese ($8, scrambled eggs over swiss chard, brioche, home fries), which was one of the best brunch dishes I have had for years. The eggs were well cooked and seasoned, and the vegetables were incredibly fresh. I don't think I ever had such delicious potatoes in the city before.

RB and JNu's Fisherman's Eggs ($9, two poached eggs over smoked trout, salad, potato latke, hollandaise) was surprisingly not as heavy as RB had expected. It was well executed, and all the elements complimented each other. CEbert's obsession at the Farm, tuna salad on country bread ($8, with capers, olive oil, roasted tomato, salad) was enormous! He could not finish it by himself, and he ended up sharing it with JNu.

We shared their french toast ($8, with caramelized apples) for dessert. WOW! When you go to the Farm, you must try their french toast. It is not overly sweet or buttery. It is the ultimate harmonious mixture of crispy, fluffy and gooey. The apples were salty sweet, and they are certainly addictive elements of this dish. It may be a bit too much for one person, but if you split it with a friend or two, or three, it is wonderful.

After the amazing brunch, JNu and CEbert took us to a little Halloween tour in the area. We walked in the neighborhood of Victorian houses with fun Halloweeen decorations and finished the tour in ever so perfect Dutch Reformed Cemetary. Spooky!

Happy Halloween from Ramen and Friends!

aww man, why is this place so far out in Brooklyn?!

Can't still justify myself to travel there from Queens. :(Do you have any fav. brunch places in Manhattan? I was in E. Village yesterday and ended up at a diner. Not bad, but since I don't eat eggs, I don't have much choices on the brunch menu.
